Real love is not meant to be hid and tamed
but exploded unto the very subject of such affection
with strength and depth unmatched by any feeling before it.
Not physical gifts or a lustful frenzy of body and skin,
but minds, hearts and emotions finding their kin;
strong embraces that merge two to one
as if each is pulling the other home to their heart;
a power of a connection that is recalled in an exchange of a glance
and made perfectly obvious to all who dare to watch,
a connection that sees past the face and straight inside
sometimes knowing its contents without a word;
a need for each other mutually felt and expressed
as desire over obligation;
a sharing of all things real in this life, laid out raw and naked
in a space of comfort, protection and care over its fragile contents;
a practical ability to understand, accept and handle the daily challenges
that come with moving through life as two while still being only one;
a willing decision to place oneself in harm's way, with risk of hurt,
because it's the only way to do it right, and it's worth it;
a booming pride to shout, share, and show the world
the wonderful blessing of this feeling and being in your life.
