tender

my mid section
needs some attention
it cries out in anguish
for a warm caress
from the inside
or from without

guarded

My mind has my heart on a leash,
letting her roam the places she knows are safe for her trodding.

egg no. 251

It's quite conceivable that I should have sex on the brain at the age of thirty. My physical body, waiting around all this time, is now seemingly hitting panic mode with egg after egg being disappointed to find nothing swimming up the canal towards it, and dying, warm yet alone.

I figure the remaining set are planning their revolt, and have gotten hormones and all in league with their scheme. The urge seems to increase with each cycle. It is like this part of the body is attempting to overthrow the mind and its crazy thought process that leaves their purpose unfulfilled.

The mind acknowledges your valiant attempts my little ones... what a wonderful creation you are. Unfortunately, fate is not on your side.

undertone

I may not wish to see you now
Though I may long to see you in the near future.
I will definitely get angry, annoyed, upset with you
over and over and over and over again.
I will laugh with you till my tummy aches
and enjoy the time we spend together.
I will cry because I'm laughing too hard,
or because you hurt me again.
I may go from liking everything about you
to disliking every bone in your body,
but one thing is certain:
I will love you.

quote of the day

Flickering lights hurt my eyes. Turn it off, or turn it on, and leave it that way.

whose really the boss?

I have found in my friendship circles a growing number of friends wanting to get off the dating scene and step into family life. No surprise there. The teenage and college-age dating for fun is just no longer appealing to this growing adult crowd. However I also see a disparity between the sexes and their ability to make their desires reality.

The men take the lead on this one. When a man is ready to make the switch, chances are he'll succeed at doing it with less time than a woman in the same position. This could be influenced by the fact that ladies typically wait on men to make the first move, whether entering relationships or taking them to the next stage. It could also be because men are less easy to convince into being ready, or simply take longer in general. By the time a man is ready for a wife, the lady he is with was probably ready from donkey's years before. Now there are exceptions to every rule, and I'm not even claiming these to be rules to begin with, but the observations and evidence certainly point to it.

Ladies, we have to admit that whereas many boast about being dominant inside the marriage, we're definitely forced to submit and wait before that privilege is willingly handed over to us.

childish things

There's a lot to be said about being a child.

When we grow old we mature and learn from our experiences, and it is those experiences that are said to make us stronger. But I wish to refute.

I believe it is those experiences that make us wiser perhaps, more careful, more observing, more questioning... but whether these translate to power or strength is debatable. I think the abandon of a child to believe he can do anything and therefore set about doing it without the slightest hesitation is one of the greatest forms of strength. I believe that fearless hope and trust not easily shaken by those around is an extremely powerful thing. I believe that to look at the world in all its chaos and complexity and see it for its beauty and simplicity is more power than we could imagine. Power that we once owned ourselves. Power that if allowed to ripen can make extraordinary adults.

The mind of a child is a powerful thing. May we never reduce it with our corrupt and limited adult ways.

resolute

There is a spirit within us that allows us to turn our heads in one direction, make up our minds, and feel extremely strong about where we're headed next and how we plan to get there. Yet, it seems to come and go like the gusty wind.

Many of us will start a period - be it a new year, a milestone birthday or even a new relationship - with potential ripe with possibility, and hope riding high on both as we set out to accomplish what we deem great things. But that pregnant possibility balloon seems to many times slowly loose air and drift gently aground.

We know the spirit of a great start exists. What we need to find now is the source of that sustaining spirit.
