The more we understand,
the more we can explain,
and the more we can explain,
the more arrogance we gain.
If nature (non-living) puts pressure on life to make it evolve
how did nature itself evolve?
How could non-living elements
ever come together to breathe a soul?
They can't.
The story could not start there...
it always starts with life being there already,
that cell.. that one little cell...
for you and I and science know
that non-living cannot make living...
and nature cannot make life....
and randomness makes chaos, not perfection.
The very theory on which our feeble minds rest
to make us arrogant enough to believe
that we are the gods of ourselves
is wrought with holes wide enough
to suck all that arrogance away.
An explanation of how
is not enough
to cover the wide variety
of why.
I may discover exactly how I was formed,
I may never know why,
I may never know the why of anything.
That why floats around in a subconscious,
a part of us as real as our flesh, created by neurons,
but as tangible as the emotions we feel.
We have a spiritual side...
the side that yearns to find and fulfill a purpose;
the side that craves, that loves, that hopes.
We can explain what happens in our bodies when we feel these things,
but we cannot explain why with the same scientific tools
we have come to rely on so deeply.
Yes, there are many gods... and many religions,
and that itself is evidence enough
that each and every community of people
is searching for something...
and that widespread scale search
is powerful enough to never be ignored;
to stand in the face of all that we see
and shout that there is something more to be found.
'The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.'
- Psalm 14: 1a
