I have found in my friendship circles a growing number of friends wanting to get off the dating scene and step into family life. No surprise there. The teenage and college-age dating for fun is just no longer appealing to this growing adult crowd. However I also see a disparity between the sexes and their ability to make their desires reality.
The men take the lead on this one. When a man is ready to make the switch, chances are he'll succeed at doing it with less time than a woman in the same position. This could be influenced by the fact that ladies typically wait on men to make the first move, whether entering relationships or taking them to the next stage. It could also be because men are less easy to convince into being ready, or simply take longer in general. By the time a man is ready for a wife, the lady he is with was probably ready from donkey's years before. Now there are exceptions to every rule, and I'm not even claiming these to be rules to begin with, but the observations and evidence certainly point to it.
Ladies, we have to admit that whereas many boast about being dominant inside the marriage, we're definitely forced to submit and wait before that privilege is willingly handed over to us.
