She leans her head upon his chest,
a lifetime in every sigh,
she can't believe he is here after all this time.
She tries to think that this is it,
the last time he will ever leave,
but her mind won't let go
of the thoughts her heart forced it to conceive.
Their life together, wrought with pleasure
and pain in equal measure,
has now become a circumstance
pregnant with potential in either direction.
None of them planned to end up there,
none of them chose...
