great expectations

a man who loves God with all his heart
and is obedient to His word.
a striving reflection of Jesus
to build a family that yields children who
love and respect God, others, and themselves.
who helps to teach and enforce what is right
and recognize that which is displeasing
not only to others, but to God as well.

a man who has a passion for life and goals,
not too similar to be boring,
not too separate to be incompatible.
who respects my thoughts and feelings
and is open and patient when ours differ.
who is willing to work through the differences
not to prove he is right, but to arrive
at a place we are both comfortable accepting.

someone who will listen and comfort
not only my words, but also my silence.
who loves me now, just the way I am,
not the way he expects me to be in years to come.

someone who sparks my spirit,
lifts me up and not pull me down,
to become one unit and strive
towards a common life's goal.
...to see heaven with.

someone I can be the same with
that I expect of him
.

shortsighted

In this mortal life it be truly unfortunate to spend the fleeting moments in the absence of that which the heart loves most.

worm hole

a break in all things present
without reliving a past

the future, a constant
untouched, uncertain
as always

everything new
except the feeling

deja vu

I brace for the inevitable. The void forms quickly inside when my eyes open to the reality that part of me is missing. This is familiar... my soul sighs.

broken

disgusted by your inability to communicate without cursing in my ear... and no! I really DO NOT care how upset you are.

saddened by the loss of a time when friends were people with standards, who would tell it like it is, and encouraged what is right rather than comfort my confessed wrongs with the words ‘everybody’s doing it’.

sickened by a society of flesh flaunted, pierced, and painted, who indulge in every manner of bodily harm and force the same on those around you by your mere presence.

appalled by a generation so lacking in humility and discipline you shout at those who bled and bore you as if dirt beneath your feet, worthy only of disrespect and disdain.

tired of your deficit in decency.

serendipity

He entered and she noticed. She watched him as he experienced the sight and sound of his new surroundings. She mentally noted the uniqueness of his name as he introduced himself to his audience.

His talents shone over the course of his orientation, along with a personality that she quickly grew fond of. Their interactions were secretly treasured and increased in quantity and quality.

Under his impressive and jovial exterior, she found a sensitive, honest, intelligent, and purposeful individual in whom she could confide. Now one of her closest friends, she smiles when she thinks of him, and is grateful for the day she warmed to a stranger.

captured

The smallest fraction of a moment, engraved forever. Minute in duration but monumental in impact, it lays etched; vividly exposed through the shutters of the mind’s eye, arousing the senses to its memory.

wept

They were not speaking. The days before were filled with pain and anger. Yet, there she stood, gaining life eternal, and all former ill feelings between them were instantly forgotten without request. In its place extreme joy flowed within them, spilling from their eyes, culminating in an emotional peak so strong their frail bodies strained to support it.

Equal in magnitude but opposite in direction, such emotion was matched only by that of their first physical separation. Powerless to prevent their sorrow, it gained intensity and broke through like a dammed river finally defeating its captor, flooding the banks of their faces and beyond them, exposing their deepest emotional trough. Miles apart, their strength weakened with each drop until there was nothing left but slumber.

promise fulfilled

she fought to hold back the tears and failed miserably at her attempt. he was leaving and she could not bear the thought. she tried to remember their happiest times in an effort at relief, but only increased her pain.

she touched his hand, laid her face next to his, and felt the warmth of his cheek next to hers. she lightly kissed his lips, slowly mouthed those three little words they often shared, and mustered a smile as he gazed sweetly at her through the windows of his soul before closing them for all eternity.
