trails

I used to follow You,
walked with You once,
we briefly stepped side by side,
but then I walked ahead.
I caught up with someone else,
He and I walked side by side,
but I fell back
and He walked ahead.
Now we all trail each other:
You me, and I He,
and even She,
trailing You.
Maybe one may stop
and finally turn around,
maybe we'll just keep walking
till we reach a side
or finally change direction.
