steady

All I want is some measure of consistency and stability. The adventurous roller coaster ride has its place, but in the end it is short-lived with no substance or support structure.

released

I did it again,
released myself
from the bondage I felt.
Why you ask?
Because I can.

the front

Sometimes it's hard to push through and be truly and wonderfully joyful when at the heart of it all you're still suffering from a state of disappointment.

humbling

Today I was reminded that if you aren't there for your loved ones when they need you, they will find someone else.

bearing

her tummy
home to many a tear
as he lay his head gently thereon
releasing himself to her

her tummy
home to many a touch
as he pulls her towards him
wrapping his hands firmly around it

her tummy
home to their union
as she carries within it
the resulting evidence of his love

duet

face to face,
nose to nose,
whisper to whisper...
two beautifully wrapped lumps
holding each other close
talking about their day.
Lives tangled together
in firm embrace,
bearing each other up
through their daily burdens and struggles
drifting together
through the cycle of darkness to dawn

that fiery spirit

I have a dilemma
developing a personality
of finding the most extreme fun
in everyday tasks and situations
borne out of close proximity
to people of the same nature...

Am I selfish
if I have seemingly balanced that fun and work
though others appear not to have,
yet I spend time with them anyway?
What about if this aspect of my personality
originated with them to begin with?

Do I spend time trying to change that part of them,
making them more responsible beings;
or do I let them be the wild and spontaneous people
that they were when I met them?

"What do you do when people, free to choose, choose what they want?"

glass or walls?

And herein lies the age-old problem with transparency....
you never know what part of what you say will affect who negatively.

I think I shall keep my business to myself,
especially if after all is said and done,
I'm going to be told that it's my business anyway.

counting in decades

Distance is greater
lives have changed
voices are seldom heard
laughter often, but seldom shared
responsibilities have increased
a few words exchanged now and then
and yet, nothing has diminished you
as one of my greatest friends
